Founder and President of the Streetpasstv Ministry organization Ricko Thomas is a inspiring motivational youth speaker and youth counselor and currently works for the Department of Justice as Federal law enforcement Officer. He also as a member of the American Civil Liberty Union organization with a bachelors degree in Legal Studies . Ricko Thomas knows first-hand the power of attitude in coping with adversity and overcoming hardship. At nine years of age, Ricko’s mother and stepfather (his biological father was in prison) turned him over to the North Carolina foster care system, where he would spend the next eleven years of his life, contending with rejection, humiliation, emotional distress and overwhelming anxiety. Yet through it all, Ricko never gave up, and went from victim to victor by defying the artificial limitations imposed on him. He literally took a disadvantage in life and turned it into an advantage. His remarkable story is one of resilience and redemption, from his personal to professional life. He is very passionate about helping at risk youth to recover and become productive citizens in our society.

Every 29 seconds, a student gives up on school. In an effort to turn the tide, Streetpasstv created a riveting series on dropout prevention. Youth learn why dropping out of school matters: dropouts earn $260,000 less in their lifetime of work than high school graduates.
Regrettably, teachers in school who teach at a crowded classroom will have no time to provide individual attention. Guidance counselors are very busy too, because they deal with the whole population of the school. Most of the time guidance counselors can only give less than four hours of career guidance to a student in their four years in high school (that is just like one hour a year!). There are millions of at-risk young children who desperately need mentoring. Nowadays, communities are seriously looking into setting-up programs for volunteer youth mentors, because they see and understand that need to help these children cope up with their daily lives
